Peñoles Award

Geometrica received a prestigious recognition from Peñoles for its efforts towards, commitment to, safety during the execution of the Herradura project, a major mining initiative in Mexico's Sonora Desert.

Geometrica built two stockpile dome covers in Sonora, the heart of Mexico's mining activity. The domes, measuring 70m in diameter and 35m in height, were designed to store materials for the Peñoles mining company. To ensure uninterrupted operations, one dome remained in service at all times.

The innovative lift and place method was employed for installation, dividing the structure into modules that were assembled individually on and then lifted into position. The construction process was carried out mainly at ground level, using standard cranes to bring each completed section into place. There were no lost-time incidents during the build.

The domes were customized for the Herradura mine with specific openings for conveyor belts, supports, and truck entry, as well as incorporating translucent materials to maximize natural lighting inside.

This project highlights our long-standing partnership with Peñoles, and this award is a testament to our dedication to safety, innovation, and commitment to the mining industry.
